Microsoftが申請した特許に、キネクトなどのカメラを使って、視聴者の挙動を監視し、コンテンツの提供をコントロールするものがある。
例えば、一人用にライセンスされたコンテンツに対し、カメラが二人の人間を検出したならば、コンテンツの提供を停止し、追加のライセンス購入を促すような機能が、特許で説明されている。
1984の世界が現実になろうとしている。
